Talented singers, musicians and dancers took part in School Idol at Wellfield BEC on Tues 8th March 2011.
The college theatre was packed out for the visit from the School Idol Roadshow, which is looking for talented youngsters aged between 8 and 18 in schools across the country.
Twenty-three acts of a superb standard performed on the night supported by cheering families and friends. Maddie Hinds secured the audience vote with her rendition of Russian Roulett by Rihanna. When it came to the judges’ vote it was a tough decision due to each of them liking different acts. In the end the judges were unanimous and Rappers Sam Coombes and Josh Wood went through to join Maddie in the Semi-Final.
Subject Leader of Music, Mrs Capaldi said: “I am so proud of all the acts who took part in School Idol. Each time we put on a show the pupils astound me with their confidence and high level of skill. Pupils are very supportive of each other at Wellfield and an event such as this really promotes our pupils' individual identity and increases their self-esteem. I am really looking forward to the final and wait in anticipation for the next School Idol!”
The semi-final will take place on Friday 8th July in Blackpool.
